Benevolence Qi Lin Figurine

The appearance of a Qi Lin was once regarded as a rare and auspicious event, believed to herald an age of peace and prosperity. Gentle despite its fantastical appearance, the mythical creature has come to embody benevolence, longevity and good fortune. Its unusual form brings together the body of a deer, the tail of a dragon and a single horn. These seemingly disparate features flow naturally into one another, giving the Qi Lin a graceful presence that reflects the serenity of its character. Sculpted in pewter, the Qi Lin stands upon a composite resin base finished in Metalesce, grounding its intricate form with a contrasting contemporary finish. About the collection Master sculptor Xu Xiao Yong draws on the rich traditions of Chinese mythology to interpret its legendary creatures in his distinctive sculptural style.
