Gilt Oriental Goldfish Plaque

The tranquil scene of nine ornamental fan-tailed goldfish swimming amongst lotus represents an abundance of wealth and purity. Modelled in full 3D, each goldfish is lavishly gilded in 24K gold, and set against a pewter surface rippled to mimic water. The plaque’s subject matter is a visual manifestation of the inscribed poem, which alludes to the fruition of wishes. 快樂群魚戲水中 蓮香清溢上高峰 風雲際會隨心發 運到時來定化龍 Nine goldfish swimming happily all day long Up to the fragrant lotus in the pond When the time is right and the wind begins to blow Their dreams will come true Lo and behold About the collection The exoticism and lofty symbolism of oriental style, legacy of a millennia-old continuous civilisation, provides an opulent counterpoint to the restraint of contemporary aesthetics.
