The Witham Shield, a masterpiece of Celtic art from 400 BCE ; 300 BCE Britain and an icon of the British Museum, lends one of its many beautiful motifs to this pendant. A sinuous raised line encircles the openwork design, ending in a pair of comma-shaped terminals enclosing snail-shell bosses.
